Solution:

We will solve the system of equation by substitution method

\begin{gathered} y=3-x------------(1) \\ 5x+3y=-1-----------(2) \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} Substitute\text{ y=3-x into equation \lparen2\rparen} \\ 5x+3(3-x)=-1 \\ 5x+9-3x=-1 \\ 2x+9=-1 \\ 2x=-1-9 \\ 2x=-10 \\ x=-(10)/(2) \\ x=-5 \end{gathered}

Substitute x = -5 into equation (1)

\begin{gathered} y=3-(-5) \\ y=3+5 \\ y=8 \end{gathered}

Thus, x = -5, y= 8
