Given the inequality;

$-3x-1\ge5$

First, we add 1 to both sides of the inequality, we have;

$\begin{gathered} -3x-1+1\ge5+1 \\ -3x\ge6 \end{gathered}$

Thus, we divide both sides of the inequality by -3, then changes the inequality sign. We have;

$\begin{gathered} -(3x)/(3)\leq(6)/(-3) \\ x\leq-2 \end{gathered}$

Then, the interval notation of the inequality is;

$(-\infty,-2\rbrack$
