How do solve for x in a equation

say an equation was 3x+6= 24. First you would get all the like terms together so you would subtract 6 on both sides. That meaning 6-6 and then 24-6. Now you would have 3x=18. Then you would divide 3x on both sides so then your answer would be x=6. To check your answer to see if you did it right, simply put 6 into your x spot because x=6. 3(6)+6=24, first multiply 3(6) which is 18, then add 6, which would be 24=24.

I rly hope this wasn’t confusing lol
