(x+1)/(3)=(x+2)/(5)

Using cross multiplication,

(x+1)\cdot5=(x+2)\cdot3

Applying distributive property,

\begin{gathered} 5x+5\cdot1=3x+2\cdot3 \\ 5x+5=3x+6 \end{gathered}

Subtracting 5 and 3x at both sides,

\begin{gathered} 5x+5-5=3x+6-5 \\ 5x=3x-1 \\ 5x-3x=3x-1-3x \\ 2x=1 \end{gathered}

Dividing by 2 at both sides,

\begin{gathered} (2x)/(2)=(1)/(2) \\ x=(1)/(2) \end{gathered}
