Using the pythagoream theorem,


\begin{gathered} \text{hypotenus}^2=\text{opposite}^2+\text{adjacent}^2 \\ AB^2=AC^2+BC^2 \end{gathered}

Where,


\begin{gathered} AB=x \\ AC=7in \\ BC=3in \end{gathered}

Substituting the values, we will have


\begin{gathered} x^2=7^2+3^2 \\ x^2=49+9 \\ x^2=58 \\ \text{square root both sides} \\ x=\sqrt[]{58} \\ x=7.6in \end{gathered}

Hence,
