So the population formula is A=Population/Density. So y is = 40,000(1.05) population/ and the 2010 represent the percent because it’s per each year per means for each and the population in 2017 will be:

40,000(1.05)/2017(2010)
So the population will be 185.9752903610
round to the nearest hundred
