Solution

Given

A(w) = 900 - 17w

(a). When w = 6

=> A(6) = 900 - 17(6)

=> A(6) = 900 - 102

=> A(6) =798

Therefore, Ravi will need $798

(b). If Ravi still needs $611, that is, A(w) = $611

=> 611 = 900 - 17w

=> 17w = 900 - 611

=> 17w = 289

=> w = 289/17

=> w = 17

Therefore, Ravi will have been saving for 17 weeks
