The sum of two numbers is 60. The larger number is 6 more than the smaller number. What are the numbers?

Answer:

The numbers are: 24 and 36

Explanation:

a+b=60

If we were to divide 60 by two we would get thirty. But if thirty represented both a and b they would be the same variable.

So what if we subtract 6 from 30=a

=24 so a=24

Now add 6 to 30=b

=36

So B=36

There fore the two numbers are 24 and 36.
