We will investigate how to represent an equation given in a general form given:

y\text{ + 3 = -4}\cdot(x\text{ + 5 )}

To represent the above equation in the required form:

Ax\text{ + By = C}

We will manipulate the terms of the given form by performing basic algebraic operators. We will start off with solving the parenthesis ( ) on the right hand side of the " = " sign:

y\text{ + 3 = -4x - 20}

We will then put all the variable terms involving " x and y" on left hand side of the " = " sign and cosntants on the other side:

\begin{gathered} y\text{ + 4x = -20 - 3} \\ 4x\text{ + y = -23} \end{gathered}

The equation is expressed in the required form above with the values of integers:

\begin{gathered} A\text{ = }4\text{ } \\ B\text{ = 1} \\ C\text{ = -23} \end{gathered}
