The formula between the distance (c) is,

c=√((x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2)

Where,

\begin{gathered} a=(x_2-x_1) \\ b=(y_2-y_1) \end{gathered}

Given

\begin{gathered} (x_1,y_1)=(-3,-1) \\ (x_2,y_2)=(-1,-5) \end{gathered}

Therefore,

c=√((-1--3)^2+(-5--1)^2)

Simplify

\begin{gathered} c=√((-1+3)^2+(-5+1)^2)=√(2^2+(-4)^2)=√(4+16)=√(20)=√(4*5) \\ c=√(4)*√(5)=2*√(5)=2√(5)=\:4.47213\approx4.5 \end{gathered}

Hence, the answer is

c=4.5
