Proportions

Two variables y and x are proportional if the following relationship stands:

y = kx

Where k is the constant of proportionality

We are given a table with two proportional variables. To find the value of k, we substitute one of the given points in the table, for example (3 , 46.50):

46.50 = k(3)

Dividing by 3:

k = 46.50/3 = 15.50

The equation is:

y = 15.50x

Answer: $15.50 per hour (choice 2)
