\text{Ella takes 1}(3)/(5)hr\text{ to complete a painting. That will be:}
1+(3)/(5)=(5)/(5)+(3)/(5)=(8)/(5)hr

Holly takes 3/4 of that time, then Holly takes:

(3)/(4)(8)/(5)hr=(24)/(20)hr

We can simplify that

(24)/(20)=(12)/(10)=(6)/(5)

That is the time for one painting. Then, for 5 paintings it will take 5 times that:

\text{Time for Holly to complete 5 paintings = 5}\cdot(6)/(5)hr=(30)/(5)hr=6hr

That will be the answer to a) (6hr)

For b) we know Ella takes 8/5 hr for a painting, then, for 5 paintings:

\text{Time for Ella to complete 5 paintings = 5}\cdot(8)/(5)hr=(40)/(5)hr=8hr

Then, Ella takes 8hr - 6hr = 2hr longer than Holly to complete 5 paintings

That will be the answer for b)
