Given:

The running track shown in the diagram has 2 straight sides. Both ends of the track are semi-circles, or half circles.

The distance of one lap around the track =

two times the length of the rectangle in the middle + the length of the two semi-circles

Note: the length of the two semi-circles = circumference of the circle

The circumference will be calculated using the following formula:


circumference=2\pi r

substitute r = 30/2 = 15, and π = 3.14


circumference=2*3.14*15=94.25

So, the distance of one lap around the track =


100+100+94.25=294.25

So, the answer will be:

the distance of one lap around the track = 294.25 m
