Find the equation of the line

1 Answer

6 votes

ANSWER:

y=2x-3

Explanation:

We have that the equation in its slope and intercept form is the following:

\begin{gathered} y=mx+b \\ \text{ where m is the slope and b is y-intercept} \end{gathered}

the slope can be calculated like this:

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

we replace the points (2,1) and (0, -3)

m=(-3-1)/(0-2)=(-4)/(-2)=2

The y-intercept in this case is (0, -3), therefore the equation of the line would be:

y=2x-3
