There is a set of formulas called 'Trigonometric Identities' that comes in handy when solving this kind of problems, the one we will use to solve this exercise is:


\cos (x)=(A)/(H)

This expression is valid for any right triangle

From the figure notice that taking the angle 27° as the reference, the side of length 6 is the adjacent (A) and, of course, x is the Hypotenuse.

So, we have that:


\begin{gathered} \cos (27degree)=(6)/(x) \\ \Rightarrow x=6\cos (27degree)=5.346 \end{gathered}

And, to the near tenth


x=5.3
