Art teacher Monica earns time and a half for the hours she works over 40 hours.

When we say "time and a half" it means 1 plus half of 1 time, i.e. 1.5 times

That information will be useful through the explanation of the problem

Part A

If teacher Monica worked 48 hours and her normal number of hours is 40, then she worked 48 - 40 = 8 hours of overtime

Answer A: She worked 8 hours of overtime

Part B

As explained above, the overtime rate is found by multiplying her hourly rate by 1.5

For example, if she earns $20 per hour, the overtime rate would be

1.5*20 = $30 per hour
