SOLUTION

The equation of a line is given as

y=mx+b

Where m is the slope and b is the intercept on the y-axis.

From the equation

y=3x+7

The slope m1 = 3

From the equation

y=-(1)/(3x)-1

The slope is

m2=-(1)/(3)

For parallel, m1 = m2.

But from what we have, m1 is not equal to m2. Therefore the lines are not parallel.
