Given:

In 1995, the USPS approximated that they handled 1.8 x 10" pieces of

mail.

In 2010, the USPS reported that they handled 1.7 x 10" pieces.

We will find the differences in the pieces of mail were handled in 1995 than in 2010

1.8*10^(11)-1.7*10^(11)=0.1*10^(11)=0.1*10*10^(10)=1*10^(10)

So, the answer will be:

There are 1 x 10¹⁰ more pieces of mail were handled in 1995 than in 2010.
