y = -5x-19 (eq. 1)

y = 5x+1 (eq. 2)

Substituting the value of y from the first equation into the second equation, we get:

-5x - 19 = 5x + 1

-5x - 19 + 5x = 5x + 1 + 5x adding 5x at both sides

-19 = 10x + 1

-19 - 1= 10x + 1 - 1 subtracting 1 at both sides

-20 = 10x

-20/10 = 10x/10 dividing by 10 at both sides

-2 = x

Replacing this result into the first equation,

y = -5(-2) - 19

y = 10 - 19

y = -9
