Applying basis proportionality theorem,


\begin{gathered} (x)/(12)=(x+6)/(16) \\ \Rightarrow16x=12x+72_{} \\ \Rightarrow4x=72 \\ \Rightarrow x=18 \end{gathered}

Thus, the required value of x is 18.
