Lipids are macro biomolecules, that are soluble in nonpolar solvents, and can be very varied, like cholesterol group whose base is the cyclo perhydro phenanthrene, fatty acids also known as oils, like olive oil, triglycerides a reservoir lipid and phospholipids which are part the cell membrane. Here we will represent a fatty acid as is the most simple structure among lipids.

Example type: fatty acid

Name: Oleic acid

IUPAC name: (9Z)-Octadec-9-enoic acid

Condensed formula: CH₃(CH2)₇CH=CH(CH₂)₇COOH
