ΔABC and ΔADE are similar, then


(AB)/(AD)=(BC)/(DE)

Replacing with data and solving for x,


\begin{gathered} (4)/(7)=(2)/(x) \\ 4\cdot x=7\cdot2 \\ x=(14)/(4) \\ x=3.5 \end{gathered}
