To solve the system:


\begin{gathered} 2x-6y=-12 \\ x+2y=14 \end{gathered}

we mutiply the second equation by two, then:


\begin{gathered} 2x-6y=-12 \\ 2x+4y=28 \end{gathered}

Now we substract the second equation from the first one:


\begin{gathered} -10y=-40 \\ y=(-40)/(-10) \\ y=4 \end{gathered}

Once we have the valu of y we plug it in the second equation and solve for x:


\begin{gathered} x+2(4)=14 \\ x=14-8 \\ x=6 \end{gathered}

Therefore, x=6 and y=4.
