Given:

Charlie saves $2 for every $9

Melody saves $4 for every $12

Charlie's ratio of money saved to money earned is:

2 : 9

Melody's ratio of money saved to money earned is:

4 : 12

Divide by 4 which is the greatest common facto, we have:

4÷4 : 12÷4 = 1:3

Therefore,

Charlie's ratio is 2:9

Melody's ratio is 1:3

ANSWER:

Charlie's ratio of money saved to money earned is not equivalent to that of Melody
