Explanation:

First plug in 14-2y anywhere x appears in the other problem

4(14-2y)-y=2

56-8y-y=2

Add common factors

56-9y=2

-56

-9y=-54

divide by -9

y=6

so far you have (x,6)

now plug the 6 into either of the problems

x=14-2(6)

Distribute

x=14-12

Then add

x=2

Now you know it's (2,6)
