The graph shows the cost of joining a gym in Town A. The cost of joining a gym in Town B is represented by a line parallel to the graph shown passing through (12260). Write an equation of the line that represents the cost of joining a gym in Town B.

TTown A line slope:

m is the slope which is change in y divided by change in x.

So,

m = 135 - 75 / 5 - 2

m = 60 / 3

m = 20

So, the line parallel (of Town B) will have SAME SLOPE. That would be (equation of line):

y = mx + b

y = 20 x + b

Now, the point it passes through is (12, 260), so we put it in x and y and find b:

y = 20x + b

260 = 20(12) + b

260 = 240 + b

b = 260 - 240

b = 20

Final equation:

y = 20x + 20
