In order to solve this equation for x, we need to isolate the variable x in one side of the equation. So we have that:

\begin{gathered} 4x+8\mleft(8\mright)+2(-1)+6\mleft(3\mright)=-2 \\ 4x+64-2+18=-2 \\ 4x+80=-2 \\ 4x=-2-80 \\ 4x=-82 \\ x=-(82)/(4)=-(41)/(2)=-20.5 \end{gathered}

So the value of x is -41/2 (or -20.5).
