l: length

w: width

The perimeter of a rectangle is computed as follows:

P = 2(l + w)

Replacing with l = 15, and P = 50, we get:

50 = 2(15 + w)

50/2 = 15 + w

25 - 15 = w

10 = w

the width is 10 inches
