Some problems to work with are

2x+4=10
25+x=10
3x+9=18
18y+3=147

Explanation:

2x + 4 = 10

Step 1: Subtract 4 from both sides to get

2x=6

Step 2: Divide both sides by 2 to get:

x=3

25 + x = 10

Step 1: Subtract 25 from both sides to get

\begin{gathered} 25+x-25=10-25 \\ \therefore x=-15. \end{gathered}

3x + 9 = 18

Step 1: Subtract 9 from both sides to get

3x=9

Step 2: Divide both sides by 3 to get

x=3.
