Larry had 32 pieces of candy.Melissa has twice as many pieced of candy as Larry. How many pieces of candy does Larry and Melissa have together?

Solution

For this case Larry had 32 pieces

And we know that Melissa has twice as Larry so then she has 32*2 = 64 pieces

Then the total of pieces are:

32+64 = 96

For the second part of the question we can do the following:

63 = 48 + 0.15*x

x= number of text messages

So then solving for x we have:

63-48 = 0.15 x

15 = 0.15 x

x= 100
