The midpoint of a line delimited by two point can be found by the average of each coordinate of the points. This means that we can apply the following expression:

((x_1+x_2)/(2),(y_1+y_2)/(2))

Applying the coordinates given:

(\frac{5\text{ -1}}{2},(-6-2)/(2))\text{ = (}(4)/(2),\text{ }(-8)/(2))\text{ = }(2,\text{ -4)}

The coordinates of the midpoint of this line are (2,-4).
