Explanation:

If we look at the figures, we see that there are 4 equal figures.

Each figure is divided by 100 squares, then 5 columns of 10 squares each joined, that is, 50 and finally there are 4 squares.

That is to say, per figure they would be 154 and being 4 figures they would be 154 * 4 squares.

Now, if we add only by similar figures it would be:

4x100 + 4x50 + 4x4

Which would be equal to:

400 + 200 + 16 = 616
