6x + 8y = 26 (eq. 1)

7x - 2y = 19 (eq. 2)

Multiplying the second equation by 4 we get:

4(7x - 2y) = 4*19

4*7x - 4*2y = 76

28x - 8y = 76 (eq. 3)

Adding equation 1 to equation 3:

6x + 8y = 26

+

28x - 8y = 76

-----------------------

34x = 102

x = 102/34

x = 3

Substituting this x-value into the first equation:

6*3 + 8y = 26

18 + 8y = 26

8y = 26 - 18

8y = 8

y = 8/8

y = 1

The solution is the point (3, 1).
