In order to find the missing side VW we need to use the trigonometric functions for the angle that is given, in this case 59°.

The trigonometric function that involves the hypotenuse and the opposite side is sin, then,


\sin \theta=(op)/(hyp)

solve the equation for the opposite side


\begin{gathered} \sin \theta\cdot hyp=op \\ \sin 59\cdot9.3=vw \\ 7.97=vw \\ vw\approx8.0 \end{gathered}
