$\begin{gathered} GI\text{ = GH+HI} \\ \Rightarrow3x+8=x+6+x+5 \\ \Rightarrow3x-x-x=6+5-8 \\ x=3 \\ \Rightarrow GH=x+6=3+6=9 \end{gathered}$
