Solution:

Note that:

  • AP + PC = AC
  • AP = 3x - 1
  • PC = x + 9

Let's substitute the values into the equation and find the measure of AC.

  • AP + PC = AC
  • => (3x - 1) + (x + 9) = AC
  • => 3x - 1 + x + 9 = AC
  • => 4x + 8 = AC
