Draw the image of the given figure according to the mapping rule. Describe the mapping in simple terms such as "Right 3, reflect over x-axis". Then name the type of mapping. (x,y)>(x+4,-y)

Given:

(x, y) ------> (x + 4, -y)

Getting the coordinates:

B (-1, 4)

C (1, 6)

D (0, 2)

Applying the given rule:

(x, y) ------> (x + 4, -y)

B (-1, 4) -----> (-1 + 4, -4) = B' (3, -4)

C (1, 6) -----> (1 + 4, -6) = C' ( 5, -6)

D (0, 2) -----> (0 + 4, -2) = D' (4, -2)

x + 4 should be "Right 4, reflect over x-axis"

x + 4 indicates a shift 4 units to the right.

Then the -y indicates a reflection over the x - axis.

The type of mapping is just like matching one figure to another.
