Let X be hours he will take to drive 31 miles

155 miles = 5 hours

31 miles = X

cross-multiply

155 X = 31 x 5

155X =155

divide both-side of the equation by 155

X = 1 hour

Let y be the the miles he will drove in 6 hours

31 miles = 1 hour

y = 6hours

cross-multiply

y = 31 x 6

y=186 miles

Miles Hours

31 1

155 5

186 6
