Hello!

We can calculate it in different ways. I'll show you two ways to solve it:

1st way:

4(1)/(4)+5(3)/(4)

We can sum fraction with fraction (because they have the same denominator) and sum integer with integer, look:

\begin{gathered} ((1)/(4)+(3)/(4))=(4)/(4)=1 \\ \\ 4+5=9 \end{gathered}

Then, we will add the results:

1+9=10

2nd way:

We can convert the fractions to decimals:

\begin{gathered} (1)/(4)=0.25 \\ \\ (3)/(4)=0.75 \end{gathered}

Now we can sum it:

4+0.25+5+0.75=4.25+5.75=10

Besides these two, there are other ways to solve this problem.

Answer:

10.
