Sum of data = 22 + 18 + 2y+1 + 10 + 20

Sample size = 5

Mean = 15

Substitute

15 = 22 + 18 + 2y+1 + 10 + 20/5

15*5 = 22 + 18 + 2y+1 + 10 + 20

75 = 70+2y+1

2y = 75-71

2y = 4

y = 4/2

y = 2

Hence the value of y is 2
