Answer: 37ft^2

Explanation:

Create two separate figures. A full square 3x3 and a rectangle 7x4.

The 7ft line on the right minus 3 ft (because we are cutting out that section of the figure) = 4ft

Area of 3x3 square = 3^2 = 9ft^2

Area of 7x4 rectangle = 7x4 = 28ft^2

28+9= 37ft^2
