\begin{gathered} \text{Given} \\ y+9=2(x+5) \end{gathered}

Recall the slope-intercept form

\begin{gathered} y=mx+b \\ \text{where} \\ m\text{ is the slope} \\ b\text{ is the y-intercept} \end{gathered}

SImplify the right side of the equation of the given, and solve in terms of y

\begin{gathered} y+9=2(x+5) \\ y+9=2(x)+2(5) \\ y+9=2x+10 \\ \\ \text{Subtract both sides by }9 \\ y+9-9=2x+10-9 \\ y\cancel{+9-9}=2x+1 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the slope-intercept form is y = 2x + 1
