Six jars contain a total of 2727 candy bars. If each jar contains nine more candy bars than the previous jar, how much candy is in each jar?

Let

x -----> number of candy bars in the first jar

so

we have the sequence

x , (x+9), x+18,x+27, x+36,x+45

therefore

x+(x+9)+(x+18)+(x+27)+(x+36)+(x+45)=2.727

solve for x

6x+135=2,727

6x=2,727-135

6x=2,592

x=432

therefore

First jar -----> 432 candy bars

Second jar=432+9=441 candy bars

Third jar=441+9=450 candy bars

Fourth jar=450+9=459 candy bars

Fifth jar=459+9=468 candy bars

Sixth jar=468+9=477 candy bars
