As shown BD is perpendicular to CD, there is a right angle at point D

So, the triangle BCD is a right angle triangle

The length of the line CD can be calculated using the Pythagorean theorem

As follows:


CD^2=BC^2-BD^2

Where BC is the hypotenuse of the triangle
