Since the ratio of ounces of gas to oil is 32 to 1, we can solve the question by the rule of three.

\begin{gathered} 32\rightarrow1 \\ 96\rightarrow x \end{gathered}

Then

\begin{gathered} x=(96\cdot1)/(32) \\ =(96)/(32) \\ =3 \end{gathered}

Therefor, the lawn mower needs 3 ounces of oil.
