The area of each tile is: 6*14 = 84 square inches.

1 tile occupies an area of 84 square inches, to find how many tiles occupy and area of 8,900 square inches, we can use the next proportion:

\frac{1\text{ tile}}{x\text{ tiles}}=\frac{84\text{ sq. in}}{8900\text{ sq. in}}

Solving for x,

\begin{gathered} 1\cdot8900=x\cdot84 \\ (8900)/(84)=x \\ 105.95\text{ tiles = x} \end{gathered}

He will need at least 106 tiles because 105 tiles are not enough
