We will have the following:

Rational numbers: Rational numbers are all the numbers that can be expressed as a quotient:

(p)/(q)

Where p and q are both integers and where q is different to 0. Examples are:

\begin{gathered} 1 \\ (3)/(4) \\ (50)/(2) \\ \end{gathered}

Irrational numbers: Irrational numbers are all the real numbers that are not rational, and thus cannot be expressed as a quotient. Examples are:

\begin{gathered} \pi \\ e \\ √(3) \end{gathered}

And more numbers that cannot be written as rational numbers.
