The scale of a map is 1 in. : 15 mi. How many actual miles does each measurement on the map represent? 28. 8.6 in. 29. 10 in. 30. 7 in. 31. 11.2 in

we know that

the scale is

1 in : 15 mi

that means

1 inch in the map represent 15 miles in the actual

so

Applying proportion

Part 28) For 8.6 in in the map

1/15=8.6/x

solve for x

x=8.6*15

x=129 miles

Part 29)

For 10 in

1/15=10/x

x=10*15

x=150 miles

Part 30)

For 7 in

1/15=7/x

x=7*15

x=105 miles

Part 31)

For 11.2 in

1/15=11.2/x

x=15*11.2

x=168 miles
