Given the equation :

so, using the multiplication property

$\begin{gathered} -5x+2=-4\cdot7 \\ -5x+2=-28 \end{gathered}$

Subtract 2 from both sides

$\begin{gathered} -5x+2-2=-28-2 \\ -5x=-30 \end{gathered}$

Divide both sides by -5

$\begin{gathered} (-5x)/(-5)=(-30)/(-5) \\ \\ x=6 \end{gathered}$
