Step 1

write the expression for the equation of a line

\begin{gathered} y\text{ = mx + c} \\ m\text{ = slope} \\ c=\text{ y-intercept = }-2\text{ from the graph} \end{gathered}

Step 2

Find the slope using the formula below

\begin{gathered} m\text{ =}(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1) \\ \end{gathered}

Where

\begin{gathered} y_2=1 \\ y_1=-2 \\ x_2=4 \\ x_1=0 \end{gathered}

Hence substituting we will have

\begin{gathered} \\ m=(1-(-2))/(4-(0)) \\ m\text{ = }(1+2)/(4) \\ m\text{ =}(3)/(4) \end{gathered}

Step 3

Find the equation by substitution

y\text{ = }(3)/(4)x-2
